The Taxateca's Garden is a small private botanical garden which contains an interesting plant collection of hundreds of species. It was founded on May 17th of 2013 and has an extension of 2.000 square meters.

Pachycereus marginatus

 

Category: Succulent. Temperature: Light frost resistant (until -8ºc). Water: Drought resistant. Details: Nice plant.


Pachyphytum compactum

 

Details: It is a succulent plant native to Mexico that forms compact gray cushions. In the spring, it produces orange and grayish flowers. It is drought-tolerant but does not withstand temperatures below approximately -4 ºC.


Paeonia officinalis

 

Category: Perennial herb. Underground in winter. Temperature: Strong frost resistant. Water: Not allow to dry. Details: Nice flowers in spring.


Parodia erubescens

 

Details: It is a cactus endemic of Paraguay. It blooms at the beginning of the wet season, in spring, and enters dormancy during winter. It can sporadically resist temperatures as low as -5ºC.


Passiflora caerulea

 

Category: Climbing. Temperature: Light frost resistant (until -10ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Nice flowers.  Interchange availability: Yes, seeds.


Paulownia tomentosa

 

Category: Deciduous tree. Temperature: Frost resistant. Water: Regularly. Details: Very fast growing tree. Interchange availability: Yes, seeds.


Peperomia dolabriformis

 

Details: It is a succulent Peperomia native to northern Peru. Each side of its blade has been folded up and fused with the opposite side, so that all that is visible is the underside of the blade and the upper side is restricted to a translucent line through which light enters. It grows well receiving water throughout the year, but without flooding and does not resist temperatures below 0 degrees.

Pereskiopsis cf. deguetii

 

Category: Succulent shrub. Temperature: Frost tender. Water: Drought resistant, root tender. Details: Uncommon cactus, spines dangerous. Interchange availability: Yes, cuttings.


Perilla frutescens

 

Details: It is an annual herbaceous plant widely used as a spice or medicinal in Asia. Its common name is shiso.


Persea indica

 

Category: Tree. Temperature: Light frost resistant (-6ºC). Water: Regularly. Interchange availability: Yes, seeds.


 

Petiveria alliacea (no picture)

 

Category: Herb. Temperature: Frost tender (until -2ºC). Water: Regularly. Interchange availability: Yes, seeds.


Philodendron bipinnatifidum

 

Category: Climbing. Temperature: Light frost resistant (trunks until -5ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Nice big leafs.  Interchange availability: Yes, cuttings.


 

Physalis peruviana

 

Category: Herb. Temperature: Light frost resistant (until -5ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Edible fruits.  Interchange availability: Yes, seeds.


Pinguicula esseriana

 

Details: Carnivorous plant native from Mexico adapted to grow on calcareous substrates that are wet during the hot season but dry during the cold season, were the plant needs to go dormant. Small insects stick to the leaves and are digested.


Piper auritum

 

Category: Big herb. Temperature: Frost tender (rhizomes frost resistant until -10ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Leafs edible and aromatic.  Interchange availability: Yes, rhizomes.


Pittocaulon bombycopholis

 

Details: A small shrub from Mexico of the same family as daisies that loses its leaves during the coldest and driest season and blooms at the end of the dry season, before putting out new leaves. It withstands drought well but requires water regularly in the wet season. It cannot tolerate temperatures below -3°C.


Pittosporum tobira

 

Category: Big shrub. Temperature: Frost resistant (until -10ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Aromatic flowers.  Interchange availability: Yes, seeds.


Plectranthus neochilus

 

Category: Herb. Temperature: Frost tender (until -2ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Nice flowers in spring, aromatic plant.  Interchange availability: Yes, cuttings.


 

Plectranthus scutellarioides

 

Category: Herb. Temperature: Frost tender (until -2ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Nice coloured leafs. 


Pleiospilos nelii

 

Category: Succulent. Temperature: Frost tender (until -4ºc). Water: Drought resistant. Water only in the warm period. Details: Nice appearance and flowers. 


Podocarpus neriifolius

 

Category: Tree. Temperature: Frost resistant (until -5ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Slow growing tree. 


 

Psidium guajava

 

Category: Small tree. Temperature: Frost tender (until -7ºc). Water: Regularly. Details: Edible fruits.

Psilotum nudum

 

Details: It is a rare tropical plant of a very primitive lineage now extinct except for this species. It lacks leaves and performs photosynthesis on its stems, which form yellow sporangia. Roots need symbiotic fungi to absorb water and nutrients.


 

Pyrrosia petiolosa (no picture)

 

Details: It is a fern from mainland Southeast Asia that usually grows on rocks. It is cold-resistant but requires humid environments to grow and calcium-free water.
