The Taxateca's Garden is a small private botanical garden which contains an interesting plant collection of hundreds of species. It was founded on May 17th of 2013 and has an extension of 2.000 square meters.

Echeveria elegans

 

Details: Succulent plant that forms nice glaucous rosettes, drought and frost resistant until -10 ºC, that produces small flowers in spring.


Echidnopsis sharpei

 

Details: Prostrate succulent plant, drought resistant but frost tender, that produces nice small dark-redish flowers during the hot season.


Echinocactus grusonii

 

Details: It is a large barrel-shaped cactus that can measure up to one meter in diameter. It is endemic to a small area of Mexico. Thanks to its size, it can resist short light frosts of up to about -7ºC when it is an adult.


 

Echinocactus platyacanthus

 

Details: A spectacular globular to columnar, unbranched cactus up to 3 meters height and more than 1.5 meters in diameter, being the thickest cactus of the world. It is a species able to survaive below the -10ºC for short periods, although long periods of moisture frequenbtly kills the plant.


Echinocereus viereckii

 

Details: A cactus endemic to Nuevo León, in Mexico, which may or may not have thorns. In spring it forms large violet flowers. It is quite resistant to cold, supporting between -7 and -10 ºC.


Echinopsis oxygona

 

Details: Small cactus, frost tender (until -5ºC), that produces big flowers during the summer. These flowers only opens few hours during the night. It is a resistant plant very easy to grow, drougth resistant and does not need any resting period.


Epiphyllum oxipetalum

 

Details: It is a cactus that grows on tree branches and trunks. It has flattened, leaf-like stems to better capture light. In the warm rainy season it produces very large flowers, which only last one night and wither when the sun rises.


Equisetum ramosissimum

 

Details: Perennial herb related with the ferns that belong to a primitive group currently nearly extinct.


Euphorbia coerulescens

 

Details: Succulent shrub native to South Africa. It resists drought and withstands temperatures of up to -7º, although with some damage. In spring it produces numerous small yellow flowers.


Euphorbia heteropoda

 

Details: Succulent plant frost tender and drought resistant. It grows mainly in the warmest season and leaves fall during the dry season.


Euphorbia meloformis

 

Details: It is a South African species that looks like a cactus, although it is not related to them. It forms dense groups of stems that are covered with flowers in spring. It resists well drought and temperatures down to -4º.


Euphorbia resinifera

 

Details: A striking succulent plant that forms large pads with hundreds of densely arranged stems. It is very resistant to drought and can withstand temperatures down to -10ºC when it is an adult.


Euphorbia tirucalli

 

Details: A striking succulent shrub, without leaves, that can reach up to 12 m high or more, with toxic white latex. It is drought resistant but dies when temperatures down below -2ºC.


Eriobotrya japonica

 

Details: The loquat is an evergreen tree native to China that blooms in winter and produces edible fruits in spring. It resists temperatures well down to -12 ºC.


Erysimum albescens

 

Details: It is a subshrub endemic to the high mountain areas of the island of Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands. It blooms massively during spring.
